The Utah Hockey Club has signed Kailer Yamamoto to a professional tryout, the team announced on Wednesday.

Yamamoto, 25, scored eight goals and added eight assists for 16 points in 59 games with the Seattle Kraken last season. He averaged 11:59 of ice time per game, the lowest in his NHL career.
The Spokane, Washington native became a free agent after the Kraken didn't offer him a $1.5 million qualifying deal.
Before joining Seattle, Yamamoto spent parts of six seasons with the Edmonton Oilers. His best season was in 2021-22, when he scored 20 goals and 41 points. In 2019-20, he had 26 points in 27 games.
Yamamoto was traded to the Detroit Red Wings but had his contract bought out before the start of last season. His contract carried a $3.1 million cap hit at that time.
Utah's right-wing depth currently includes Nick Schmaltz, Dylan Guenther, rookie Josh Doan, and left-handed Alexander Kerfoot.
Yamamoto has 58 goals and 134 points in 303 career NHL games. He was drafted 22nd overall by the Oilers in 2017.
