The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Travis Konecny to an eight-year extension worth an average annual value (AAV) of $8.75 million, starting in the 2025-26 season. General Manager Daniel Brière expressed his enthusiasm, calling Konecny a key part of the team's core and praising his leadership and commitment.
«I couldn't be happier to sign again with the Flyers,» Konecny said. «The future looks bright, and I'm excited to be part of it for the next nine years. I'm grateful to my teammates and staff for making this possible and look forward to returning to Philly for another great season!»
Last season, Konecny, 27, led the Flyers with 68 points (33 goals, 35 assists) in 76 games. He topped the NHL in shorthanded goals and was tied for second in shorthanded points. He also marked several milestones, including his 500th NHL game, 200th NHL assist, and 400th NHL point. Konecny was selected for the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend and received the Bobby Clarke Trophy as the Flyers' Most Valuable Player.
Off the ice, Konecny is actively involved in community service, hosting Make-A-Wish recipients, supporting Flyers Against Prostate Cancer, and participating in local charity events.
Since being drafted 24th overall in 2015, Konecny has amassed 174 goals and 226 assists in 564 regular-season games, plus eight points in 22 playoff games. He has also represented Canada in various international tournaments, winning silver at the 2017 Men's World Championship and bronze at the 2014 Under-18 World Junior Championship.
