Could the Kraken farm team be the answer for future success?
General Manager Ron Francis faces the critical task of steering his club back to the level they achieved in 2022-2023.
As the curtain falls on the 2023-24 Seattle Kraken season, all eyes turn to General Manager Ron Francis as he charts the course for the future of his club.
Indeed, with the disappointment of falling short of the postseason still fresh, the first step in the journey towards improvement begins with the offseason. It presents an invaluable opportunity for the Seattle Kraken to reflect on what worked, identify areas for growth, and strategize on how to elevate the team to new heights.
To achieve this, Francis must focus on several key areas. Firstly, bolstering the team's roster through strategic player acquisitions and trades will be crucial. But most importantly, he is looking at his current prospects in Coachella Valley to make the jump into NHL competition.

The Kraken general manager emphasizes that leveraging the talent from their farm team in Coachella Valley will be pivotal for the team's success.
"We think from that standpoint, we've got some really good, exciting pieces in the puzzle."
In regards to his future stars in Coachella valley, Francis notes
"Hockey is a little different than other pro sports, it takes a little bit more time for these kids to get there because you're drafting them at 18 years old. It takes time for them to develop physically and mentally and their skills. So we understand that we have great fan support, we understand that we want to put a product on the ice that they can be proud of. And we would love nothing more than to give them playoff hockey. So again, that's our goal to try to accomplish that next year."
Shane Wright is considered a top prospect for the Seattle Kraken due to his exceptional skill set and potential to make a significant impact in the NHL. As one of the most highly touted prospects in recent years, Wright possesses a combination of elite scoring ability, hockey IQ, and leadership qualities that make him an attractive prospect for any NHL team.
Wright is known for his dynamic offensive game, with a knack for finding the back of the net and creating scoring chances for himself and his teammates. His impressive speed, agility, and puck-handling skills allow him to navigate through opposing defenses with ease, making him a constant threat in the offensive zone.
The emergence of Shane Wright and other top farm team prospects certainly holds the potential to propel the Seattle Kraken back into the playoff picture. However, whether this potential translates into postseason success remains to be seen, and only time will tell how these young talents integrate into the team and contribute to its overall performance.
