Florida Panthers' defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson abandoned his team in the closing moments last night, allowing Connor McDavid to net an empty-net goal as Game 5 ended.

The Oilers' victory forces a return to Edmonton for Game 6, prompting swift criticism from Florida fans over the team's errors. Ekman-Larsson is particularly under fire for his lapse in the final seconds.
With goalie Sergei Bobrovsky pulled, the Panthers went all-out to equalize. With mere seconds remaining, the Oilers fired towards the open net.
In a dramatic move, Matthew Tkachuk lunged to prevent the puck from crossing the goal line at the last moment.
However, Ekman-Larsson had already given up on the play, unable to react as McDavid sealed the game moments later.
Check out the video to see how it unfolded:
Tkachuk makes an incredible goal-line save, but Ekman-Larsson simply... gives up, allowing McDavid to score regardless.
With the Stanley Cup on the line, really?
