The Kraken decided to fire Dave Hakstol yesterday, Ron Francis finally spoke to the media regarding the decision to move onto a new head coach.
Francis told reporters he does not believe the players gave up on Hakstol, the team just fell short of the results they were hoping for. The Kraken GM added that the team's goal every year is to make the playoffs and not only that but they want to compete for the Stanley Cup.
Francis: "I'm watching each and every night. I don't think our players quit on (Hakstol)...we just didn't get the results we wanted to get." #SeaKraken
Hakstol had a great second season with the Kraken as they surprised a lot of fans and insiders by making the playoffs even though they were eliminated in the second round.
This year was supposed to be a year to build off of last but unfortunately things took a bad turn and they ended up taking a few steps backwards as they missed the mark by quite a few points.
The Kraken GM stated that this change in head coach is to hopefully have a fresh start next season as they hope to get back on track and make the playoffs once again.
