The Kraken's GM Ron Francis decided to trade forward Alex Wennberg at the trade deadline to the Rangers and it looks like Seattle won the trade.
Wennberg was heading into the final year of his 3 year contract with 25 points in 60 games with the Kraken when he was traded to the Rangers for 2 draft picks. The picks returned to the Kraken were a second rounder in 2024 and a fourth rounder in 2025.
Since being acquired by the Rangers, Wennberg finished the season with 4 points in 19 games and has 0 points through 4 games in the first round of the playoffs.
Wennberg was a solid player for the Kraken but with two picks in return for a player that the team was not willing to re-sign is definitely a win.
Hopefully Wennberg and the Rangers do well in the playoffs but all in all, the Kraken clearly won this trade.
