The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the middle of their Stanley Cup window but have yet to bolster their forward group. However, a new trade proposal suggests the Leafs could make a move to add a seasoned scorer to strengthen their middle-six lineup.

According to PuckPedia's PuckGM tool, which allows fans to create hypothetical trades, one user proposed a scenario where the Maple Leafs acquire veteran forward Jordan Eberle from the Seattle Kraken in a multi-player swap.
Proposed Trade:
Maple Leafs receive:

- Jordan Eberle ($1.4 million retained)
Kraken receive:
- Nathan Mayes (signing rights)
- Vladimir Bobylev (signing rights)
- 2025 second-round pick (Florida's)
- 2026 fifth-round pick
In this scenario, Toronto adds Eberle in exchange for two prospects and a pair of draft picks. The deal appears to benefit both sides, as the Maple Leafs gain an experienced forward to aid in their playoff push, while Seattle continues to build its future by acquiring assets.
Eberle is entering the first season of a two-year, $9.5 million contract. The 34-year-old forward has played in 1,018 NHL games, tallying 299 goals and 403 assists for 702 points. He'd likely slot into Toronto's middle-six and contribute to the second power-play unit.
For Seattle, the return package includes the signing rights to Mayes, a defenseman drafted in the seventh round of the 2024 NHL Draft, and Bobylev, a 2016 fifth-round pick currently playing in Europe. The Kraken would also receive a second-round pick in 2025 and a fifth-rounder in 2026.
Eberle's Contract Extension with Kraken
Eberle, who could have tested free agency in July, signed a contract extension with the Kraken in March.
«We are thrilled to have Jordan remain with the Kraken for the next two years,» said Kraken GM Ron Francis. «This extension is well deserved, and getting it done has been a priority for us. Between his leadership in the locker room and his on-ice performance, Jordan has been an important part of our franchise from day one. We're looking forward to many more memorable moments with him on the ice.»

Eberle has been with the Kraken since being selected in the 2021 expansion draft. He ranks second in franchise history in games played, goals, assists, and points and leads the team in game-winning goals.
Before joining Seattle, Eberle spent time with the Edmonton Oilers and the New York Islanders.
Maple Leafs GM Hints at Future Moves
Despite a relatively quiet offseason following their early playoff exit, the Maple Leafs have been active in addressing their defense, signing Chris Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and goalie Anthony Stolarz in free agency. Still, general manager Brad Treliving hinted that more roster adjustments could be on the horizon.
«To me, we've still got five weeks or so till camp, and we're not set yet. We continue to look at ways to make our team better,» Treliving said in an interview with TSN 1050's *OverDrive*. «Sometimes people fall in love with the idea of making a big change just for the sake of it. If it doesn't make your team better, it doesn't make sense.»

The Leafs kick off their 2024-25 NHL season on the road against the Montreal Canadiens on October 9.
