New Coach Bylsma Pledges 'High Energy' for Seattle Kraken
Dan Bylsma Brings 'High Energy' Approach to Seattle Kraken
Dan Bylsma, newly appointed as head coach of the Seattle Kraken, emphasized his coaching ethos during his introductory press conference on Tuesday: "High energy."
Bylsma, affectionately known as "Disco Dan," brings a wealth of experience to the Kraken, having previously guided the Pittsburgh Penguins to a Stanley Cup victory in 2009. His tenure with the Penguins and later with the Buffalo Sabres reflects a coaching record of 320-190-55 over 565 NHL games.
"I'm honored to be entrusted with this opportunity," Bylsma expressed, acknowledging the privilege of coaching in the NHL and highlighting the partnership with Kraken general manager Ron Francis.

Prior to his appointment, Bylsma spent the last two seasons with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the Kraken's AHL affiliate, culminating in a Calder Cup Finals appearance last season and a current Western Conference Finals berth. Despite his ongoing AHL commitments, Bylsma remains focused on the present moment and is eager to build on his successes with the Firebirds.
"I believe my time in Coachella Valley has prepared me well for the challenges ahead," Bylsma remarked, noting his familiarity with the players and staff that will facilitate a smooth transition back to the NHL.
The Kraken, who dismissed Dave Hakstol after missing the playoffs this past season, are optimistic about Bylsma's ability to rejuvenate their offense, which struggled to perform in the previous campaign.
"We need to find ways to enhance our offensive capabilities," Francis commented, underscoring Bylsma's reputation for instilling passion and intensity in his teams.
With Bylsma's commitment to injecting "high energy" into the Kraken, Seattle fans eagerly anticipate a revitalized approach under their new coach in the upcoming NHL season.
