Hockey World Mourns Johnny Gaudreau and Brother

Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed while cycling on a road when a man driving an SUV in the same direction attempted to pass two other vehicles and struck them from behind. They were pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said 43-year-old Sean M. Higgins, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and charged with two counts of death by auto, along with reckless driving, possession of an open container and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was jailed at the Salem County Correctional Facility.
On Thursday night, while riding their bicycles near their home in Salem County, New Jersey, Johnny and Matthew were struck and killed by a car. Following the heartbreaking news, NHL players, fans, and friends flooded social media with memories of Johnny, fondly known as "Johnny Hockey," celebrating his remarkable career.
One widely shared clip features Jaromir Jagr's final NHL goal - the 766th of his extraordinary career - set up perfectly by Gaudreau on a 2-on-1 break against the Detroit Red Wings during the 2017-18 season.
On Monday, Jagr posted the highlight on social media along with a touching message. Jagr, who ranks second in NHL history in points (1,921) and fourth in goals, expressed deep admiration for his former teammate.
Originally written in Jagr's native Czech, the tribute to Gaudreau was heartfelt and poignant.
"I never imagined I would write a message like this," Jagr wrote. "Yes, that was my last NHL goal. Yes, it was a nice goal. But above all, it was a beautiful pass. Life can be so cruel sometimes. Thank you, Johnny Gaudreau, for being there and inspiring all the guys who aren't the biggest or strongest to believe they can succeed in the NHL, just like you did. My deepest condolences to the entire family. Rest in peace to you and your brother."
