The Seattle Kraken have signed left-handed defenseman Nikolas Brouillard to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced on Monday. The deal includes a cap hit of $775,000 for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
The 29-year-old from St. Hilaire, Quebec, spent the 2023-2024 season with the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL, the minor league affiliate of the New York Rangers. During that time, he recorded five goals and 31 assists over 70 games. Brouillard has accumulated 128 points across 238 career AHL games.
Standing at five-foot-11, Brouillard has also developed a reputation as an enforcer in the AHL. Over the past three seasons, he has averaged 129 penalty minutes per season while playing nearly 70 games on average.
Before turning professional, Brouillard played three seasons with McGill University from 2017 to 2020, helping lead the team to the Queen's Cup league championship in 2018.
