The Seattle Kraken have been invited to participate in the 2024 NHL Rookie Face-off from September 13th to 16th at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo, CA. Joining the Kraken in their tournament debut will be the league's newest franchise, the Utah Hockey Club.
Hosted by the L.A. Kings, this annual tournament will also feature rookies from the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, and Anaheim Ducks. The Face-Off originated in Los Angeles in 2003 as the Pacific Division Shootout but was renamed in 2018.
Each team will play three games, with rosters averaging 28 players: 17 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders. Details about the Kraken's rookie roster have yet to be revealed, but the following players are likely candidates.
Kaden Hammell Hammell, the Kraken's 2023 draft pick, was instrumental in leading the Everett Silvertips to the second round of the 2024 WHL playoffs. Hammell was also invited to an amateur tryout by the Coachella Valley Firebirds in 2024. Fans love the defenseman for his fiery personality and his offensive abilities.
