It was a disappointing end to game one for the Oilers and during the post game scrum, Oilers superstar Connor McDavid told reporters that he felt the hockey gods have punished the Oilers for their Game 6 performance against the Dallas Stars.
A shell-shocked McDavid felt his team deserved a better fate and at least one or two goals as they were the dominant team through most of the game. The Oilers barraged the Panthers with a shot count of 32-18 and the Panthers blocked 21 shots. This certainly shows the ice was tilted into the Oilers favor but they could not solve Sergei Bobrovsky.
Both teams had a weeklong worth of rest and preparation, and it was important for the Oilers to start on time. Unfortunately, they could not buy a goal during game one and Bobrovsky was brilliant.
The Panthers on the other hand, will need to re dial themselves into Game 2 and refocus to the game style they used to which is a more physical game and controlling all three zones of the ice Even though they won the game 3-0.
Game 2 will take place on Monday June 10th and game time will be 8:00 PM eastern.
