Former Seattle Kraken forward, Alexander True, will be one of 23 skaters representing Denmark's Men's National Ice Hockey Team in the 2026 Winter Olympics qualification tournament held in Aalborg, Denmark, from August 29th to September 1st.

Countries that ranked in the top eight based on the results of the 2023 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships, according to the IIHF World Ranking system, automatically qualified for the Olympics. Denmark, grouped with Great Britain, Japan, and Norway, will face off in several rounds. The group winners will advance to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Denmark has previously competed in men's ice hockey at the Winter Olympics in 1952, 1998, and 2018.
True, the 6'5", 199-pound Danish-Filipino forward from Kbenhavn, Denmark, was drafted by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft and signed a one-year, two-way contract. He spent most of the 2021-2022 season with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, helping them reach the Calder Cup Playoffs. In December 2022, True made his NHL regular-season debut with the Kraken against the Columbus Blue Jackets, playing a few more games before returning to the Checkers. He later finished the 2023 season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
True's career began early with Rungsted, competing in the Denmark U-17 and U-20 leagues from 2010 to 2014. He represented Denmark five times in the World Junior Championships and six times in the International Junior Championships. His strong performances earned him the title of Captain for the 2017 WJC tournament, along with back-to-back WJC Top-3 Player awards in 2016 and 2017.
Seattle hockey fans remember True from his time with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds between 2014 and 2017, where he recorded 45 goals and 39 assists. His most memorable moment came in Game 6 of the 2017 WHL Championships, when he scored the winning goal in overtime.
Joining True for Denmark's Olympic qualifier are the Kraken's 2023 second-round draft pick, Oscar Fisker Mlgaard, and winger Oliver Bjorkstrand.
