This prospect could be the future for the Kraken

At 6'3" and 201 lbs, Julius Miettinen, selected 40th overall by the Seattle Kraken, has the physical tools and frame to become a dominant two-way forward. But there's still work to be done.

Miettinen moved to the WHL from Finland in his draft year, scoring 31 goals and 67 points in 66 games. While these numbers aren't eye-popping for a second-round pick, his defensive game and relentless effort make up for it.

Miettinen's size allows him to excel in forechecking and winning puck battles on the boards, making him effective in the dump-and-chase game. Offensively, he uses his body to dominate in front of the net, serving as a net-front presence on the power play for the Everett Silvertips.

What truly encapsulates Miettinen's game is his speed. He uses it to disrupt opposing rushes and get into passing lanes quickly. If he can leverage this speed in transition, his offensive game could see significant improvement.

Despite these promising traits, doubts remain about whether Miettinen's tools will translate to the next level. His offensive game still needs polishing, and unlike most prospects, his defensive tools and frame are more advanced than his scoring ability.
