Should the Kraken Name a Captain for 2024-25?

Entering its fourth season, the Seattle Kraken are aiming for success. One key to getting back on track might be naming a captain to lead the team.
After naming defenseman Mark Giordano as their first captain, the Kraken have been without one since his departure at the 2022 trade deadline. Since then, several players have worn the Assistant Captain "A" but none have donned the "C."
Is it time to name the second captain in Kraken history? The answer should be yes. The Kraken need to appoint their next captain before the upcoming season. A stable leadership hierarchy can greatly benefit the younger and newer players. Across the NHL, strong leadership often transforms average teams into powerhouses.
Here's a compelling fact: since the 1972 Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup, every Cup-winning team has had a captain lift the trophy first. The last 42 champions have had a captain at the helm. Why break from a tradition that seems integral to success?
So, who should wear the "C" for the Kraken in 2024-25? Forward Jared McCann, the team's best player from last season, is a solid choice. With franchise records in goals and assists, and being a consistent top performer, McCann's contributions on the ice make him a strong candidate for the next captain.
