Last season, Veleno contributed 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 80 games. Over four NHL seasons, the 24-year-old has tallied 30 goals and 34 assists for 64 points in 232 games. Selected 30th overall by the Red Wings in the 2018 NHL Draft, Veleno spent part of the 2020-21 season in the AHL and Sweden's top league before securing a full-time NHL role in 2021-22.
In the QMJHL, Veleno played for the Saint John Sea Dogs and Drummondville Voltigeurs. He helped the Sea Dogs win the 2017 QMJHL President's Cup. In the 2017-18 season, Veleno scored 22 goals and 57 assists for 79 points. His final junior season in 2018-19 saw him net 42 goals and 62 assists for 104 points in 59 games, followed by 17 points in 16 playoff games.
The Red Wings finished the 2023-24 season with a 41-32-9 record, totaling 91 points and finishing fifth in the Atlantic Division, narrowly missing the playoffs as the Washington Capitals clinched the final spot.
