Sprong's standout professional season came in 2017-18 with the AHL Penguins, scoring 32 goals and 33 assists in 65 games. Despite his AHL success, he was traded to the Ducks for
Marcus Pettersson. After stints with the Ducks and Capitals, he joined the Kraken, where he had his career-high 2022-23 season, followed by a one-year, $2 million contract with Detroit.
