Seattle's rough start to the season did not have a game yet where the goaltender had stolen a game for them. Thursday was the closest Seattle has come to having that, as Joey Daccord was spectacular against the Hurricanes. Daccord made 42 saves on 45 shots, setting a Seattle franchise record for most saves in a game.

After landing himself the backup role to Philipp Grubauer out of training camp, Daccord has started the last two games and is 2-0-2 on the season. Carolina plays a game that will wear the opponents down and test their goaltender frequently, which was the case tonight against the Kraken. Daccord was up to the test and gave Seattle the chance to walk away with two points in the standings. There was nothing Daccord could have done on the game-tying goal, as Jesperi Kotkaniemi was left wide open with a one-timer to an open net. With Daccord playing the best game of his career, it will be interesting to see if he gets the start again on Saturday against the Florida Panthers.
