The 2024-25 season is crucial for Seattle Kraken forward Shane Wright. Entering his third year with the organization, Wright is eager to secure a permanent spot at the NHL level.

Throughout the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, Wright only appeared in 16 games for the Kraken. As the fourth overall pick in the 2022 Draft, both Wright and the team have high expectations for his performance.
In an interview with NHL.com, Wright emphasized his commitment to improving and making an impact this season.
"I'm getting on the ice with skilled players and strong groups," Wright said. "I'm really pushing myself to reach my potential and ensure I'm in top shape for camp."
Although 16 NHL games is a small sample size, Wright is determined to build on that experience.
"I'll bring that confidence to camp," Wright said. "That feeling of, 'Hey, I belong here. I can make a significant impact in this league and play a key role.'"
In his 16 NHL games, Wright has recorded five goals and two assists, totaling seven points. Four of those goals came in eight games during the 2023-24 season.
Wright spent most of the 2023-24 season with the Kraken's AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. He accumulated 47 points (22G-25A) in 59 games and was instrumental in their run to the Calder Cup Final, scoring 12 points in 12 playoff games.
The Kraken anticipate Wright becoming a regular NHL player in 2024-25, especially with the promotion of Firebirds head coach Dan Bylsma. The former Stanley Cup-winning coach will now lead the Kraken and aims to bring Wright along.
"This year was a great opportunity for him to establish himself as a player," Bylsma said.
Wright is ready for his chance, and the Kraken can expect a significantly improved player when he returns to the NHL ice.
